Breas-t Lift or Mastopexy In Delhi

Breas-t lift or mastopexy can be done to lift the Breas-t to reverse the effects of aging on the female Breas-t. It can be done by fat grafting or Breas-t implant alone, mastopexy with Breas-t implant or only mastopexy. With the effect of ageing, gravity and Breas-t feeding women tend to lose these desirable positions and develop loose, sagging Breas-ts with the nipple and areola sagging downwards. If the Breas-ts are flatter, have an elongated shape or look pendulum shaped when hanging freely, then the patient will do well with a mastopexy. When not wearing a bra, if the nipples fall under the Breas-t crease, areolas and nipples point downwards, there is stretched skin and extremely large areolas, these are also indication for a Breas-t lift. Mastopexy is designed to lift the Breas-t including the gland and areola. Correction can be done using various procedures depending on the extent of the problem. This is often combined with Breas-t augmentation to regain the rounded contour of a youthful Breas-t. Incisions for the procedures can be placed around the  areola complex or in the inframammary crease. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.

The various techniques used for a lift include:

  • Periareolar mastopexy: This involves a circular incision around the nipple area. This is suitable if only a modest amount of laxity exists. The scar is at the junction of the areola and Breas-t tissue and becomes almost imperceptible over time.
  • Vertical/lollipop mastopexy: This involves a vertical line starting from the nipple to the Breas-t crease. This suffices if a little amount of skin needs to be excised.
  • Inverted T pattern/Wise resection: This involves a scar with a vertical limb which starts from the nipple and ends at the Breas-t crease. The transverse limb of the scar lies along the Breas-t crease. This pattern is used when there is a significant amount of skin sagging.

A Breas-t lift in itself does not increase the size of Breas-ts. However, it does impart a more youthful appearance in terms of firmness and shape. If small size is a concern, the procedure can be combined with a Breas-t implant or fat grafting in an augmentation mastopexy. Post-operative care includes wearing a sports bra for initial few weeks and heavy exercises should be avoided post-surgery. A Breas-t lift requires some incisions depending on the extent of sagging. These usually settle down with time. A compression garment or belt is recommended by the surgeon after cosmetic procedures like liposuction, Breas-t reduction, gynecomastia and tummy tuck. It helps to reduce the swelling by applying pressure on tissues and pushing the fluid back into veins and lymphatic vessels. A perfect compression belt after liposuction is the tool to achieve better contouring and to sustain the results.

After 3-4 days, the patient can go back to her normal activities and join work if she has a desk job. However, any strenuous activities or exercises must be avoided. By one month after surgery, the majority of patients say they feel “back to normal.” Bruising, discomfort, and most swelling disappear. By 6-8 weeks, one can do all types of physical activity again. The results vary from patient to patient. There are several factors which determine the longevity of Breas-t lift results. Most of the patients will be satisfied with the treatment for many years.
