Arm shaping / contouring / Brachioplasty In Delhi

Arms often sag as we age, creating “batwings,” and for many people, the upper arm is an especially difficult area to lose weight in and tone. These “batwings” on the upper arms can be excellently treated by Liposuction, either traditional or Vaser, or brachioplasty which is excisional removal of excess skin-fat envelope. If skin tone is good and sagging of the lower dependent portion of the arm is equal to or less than the width of the arm, satisfactory results may be anticipated with liposuction alone. If it is more, then brachioplasty is a better procedure. The incision is made from the armpit to the elbow. Excess tissue is removed and liposuction may be done to remove the stubborn fat cells. In contouring following body contouring after massive weight loss too, brachioplasty is the preferred mode of treatment, often coupled with Breas-t & back surgery as part of upper body lift.

Brachioplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately 3 hours to finish for both arms. In the post-operative period, one might experience temporary side effects such as bruising, swelling, tightness, light bleeding, numbness and a tingling sensation, which usually settle by 1-2 weeks. In the immediate post-operative period, patient is advised to keep the upper limbs as straight as possible at the elbow for about 7-10 days to prevent massive swelling.

Once the swelling subsides, the result is noticeable. It may take up to 2-3 months to see final result of the surgery. One can resume their daily activities from the day after surgery. Cardio exercises can be started from 1-2 weeks after surgery. Heavy weight training should be avoided for at least 3-4 weeks.
